Fishing 

**NOTE: Before recreating on Fort Cavazos, carefully read the Fort Cavazos guide and regulations above.**

Requirements 

All persons 9 and older fishing lakes, ponds, and streams of Fort Cavazos must possess and have on their person a Fort Cavazos fishing permit. 

NOTE: Children under 9 do not require a permit and must be accompanied by a licensed and permitted adult. 

All persons 17 and older must possess a Texas state fishing license.

NOTE: iSportsman vehicle range pass must be displayed in the dash of the vehicle.

Check-in and Check-out 

Anglers may check-in to an area starting at 0400 hours. All Anglers must check-out by 2359. Each angler is responsible for checking themselves out. ISportsman DOES NOT automatically check you out.

Accessing "No Check-in/Check-out" Ponds

A list of ponds that do not require an individual to check-in/check-out can be found HERE.

Access must be the most direct route from the point of leaving public roadways (paved or main improved roads). No parking on dams or spillways.

Boats and Kayaks

Manually propelled boats are authorized on most Fort Cavazos lakes, ponds, and streams. except Cantonment B (Kids Pond). 

Boats propelled by electric trolling motors on lakes and ponds must be registered in accordance with state law. 

All motorized boats including electric must have Texas boat registration and all boating safety devices that are required by Texas Water Safety Digest. 

NO gasoline powered motors are allowed on any lake or pond on Fort Cavazos. Except Belton Lake. 

Prevent the Spread of Invasives

Kayaks, boats, and trailers in any body of water must be clean and free of any plant material, mud, and foreign objects, drain all water including the motor, bilge, livewell, and bait buckets and dry for at least one week or be pressure washed with high-pressure, hot- soapy water before entering another body of water. 

Texas law states, "Live fish, including personally caught live bait, cannot be transported in water that comes from the water body where they were caught. Personally caught live bait can be used only in the water body where it was caught."

Crawfish

A state fishing license and a Fort Cavazos fishing permit is required to take crawfish. There is no limit on crawfish.
