Requirements
- Proof of Hunter Education Certification.
- A valid Texas State hunting license.
- A valid Fort Cavazos iSportsman hunting permit.
- Fort Cavazos firearm registration (Form 190-19)
NOTE: iSportsman vehicle range pass must be displayed in the dash of the vehicle.
Important Changes
- 400 square inches of safety orange required from - 28 October 2023 through 31 January 2024
- Hanging feeders only - 15 September 2023 through 31 January 2024
- No game cameras
- Blinds and stands are pack-in/pack-out; anything left overnight is subject to confiscation
- Checkout times by hunting type
- Deer Hunting: 2100 hours
- Turkey Hunting: 2100 hours
- Pig Hunting: 2359 hours
- Small Game/Non-Game Hunting: 2359 hours
- Lastest check-in time for Deer and Turkey Hunting is 1700. Latest check-in for all other recreation is 2330.
The following is a list that hunters can harvest for each iSportsman hunting activity option (all seasons and bag limits apply). Hunters may only have the ammunition authorized for the check-in option they have checked into in iSportsman. Refer to FC Circular 210-22 for authorized ammunition by species and seasons.
Reservations
During the fall hunting season, reservations will be available for deer, turkey, and pig hunting. Reservations can be made on the day prior, starting at 1200 hours. A reservation will hold a hunting spot for a particular area. Hunters with a reservation may check into the area through their reservation beginning at 0400 hours on the day of the hunt. Hunters who do not check-in with their reservation by 1159 hours on the day of the hunt will have their reservation cancelled. A hunter may be checked into an area and have a reservation for the next day. Hunters are prohibited from checking into multiple activities (e.g, deer and small game hunting) simultaneously and may not have multiple reservations. If a hunter has a reservation for an area that is to be closed, they will be notified to cancel their reservation.
Same day Check-in is on a first come first serve basis.
YOU are responsible for your hunting privileges. iSportsman DOES NOT automatically check you out of areas. Check-out violations may result in penalties.

Hunting with a Companion
Hunters are allowed to recreate with companions. During the check-in process a hunter may add Participants or a Guest (Guest Observer). Hunters are prohibited from adding more than one(1) Guest (Guest Observer).
- A Participant can fully participate in the activity for which they are checked in for and must possess a valid hunting permit.
- A Guest (Guest Observer) may not participate and must possess a valid Fort Cavazos permit AND the free Guest Observer permit.
NOTE: All Guest (Guest Observers) nine and older must have a valid Fort Cavazos permit AND the free Guest Observer permit.
Number of Participants or Guests (Guest Observers) allowed:
- Deer Hunting- 1 companion
- 1 Participant or 1 Guest
- Turkey Hunting- Up to 2 companions
- 1 Participant and/or 1 Guest
- 2 Participants
- Pig Hunting- 1 companion
- 1 Participant or 1 Guest
- Small/Non-Game Hunting- Up to 2 companions
- 1 Participant and/or 1 Guest
- 2 Participants
